Welcome to the Thomas Hudson Author Page

These pages are devoted to bringing interested readers a listing and descriptions of the complete works available from
an author who mostly writes in the "universe" of young scientist and inventor, Tom Swift. But, take a look around and
see
what else he comes up with from time to time.

Several of the books/stories are available for free download by either right-clicking that link to download the file to your computer or by directly clicking the line
to read the book on screen. No matter what you do please respect the copyright and do not distribute or otherwise do anything more than just enjoying it yourself.

The AuthorTHOMAS HUDSON -- (1955- )

Tom became intrigued with the world of TOM SWIFT at an early age, starting with the first Tom Swift Jr, book (Tom Swift and His Flying Lab) when he was in the third grade. That was during the hayday of the Tom Swift Jr. series (1954 to 1971) when he dutifully spent $1.25 several times a year when the latest book was released.

He had a complete collection as of #30, Tom Swift and His G-Force Inverter, when the family moved several hundred miles away and his mother made him "donate" his books to the local library. Her attitude was if a book has been read once, get rid of it! Nobody ever reads books twice! This was not the last time she would do something diabolical like this! (She also threw out his Archie Comics collection including #'s 3 through 40 of the 1946-1990s series) while he was serving in the Navy during the end of the Viet Nam War! Is he bitter? HA!!!)

He spent numerous years as a young adult locating and buying all the Tom Swift Jr. books in the series again, included the final one, #33, Galaxy Ghosts, which was a truly horrible book. So horrible that you will notice he wrote an entirely NEW book using that title but NOT THE SAME STORY!

About every 7-8 years he picked up the series and read all thirty-three books, enjoying the memories and the old friends (except possibly for #33). But, on a horrible day in mid-2009 he found that the old books had reached their "Best By" date, the point where the science was mostly disproven, the characters no longer rang true, and he was in despair until an Internet search discovered a website of an author who had "reimagined" most of the original stories and even had written a couple brand new ones.

Once he discovered Scott Dickerson's TomSwiftLives.com books and started an email friendship, the suggestion of writing his own Tom Swift book came up. Evidently, if you frequently write three-page emails to an author, he or she is going to ask if you don't think maybe you ought to redirect that energy into sometihing, like maybe a book of your own! So, and with the encouragement of his wife, he began writing a new Tom Swift story almost at once.

He has adopted (borrowed…?) Scott D's world and built on that rather than any of the previously published series, or taking his own separate track. In this version of Tom's world are many familiar characters and a few new or replaced ones. It all takes place in our near future, not the 1950s!

In addition to his novels he has written a series of novellas based around individual "other" characters who appear in Tom's stories, only this time each story centers around them. He also has written a series of stories centering on many of Tom's fantastic yet lesser known inventions, and another pair of series with Tom's mother, Anne Swift, in her double life as mother/wife/home maker and her life as one of the FBI's top microbiologist detectives, and one about his father Damon Swift and some of his wilder inventions. He also has written a series of Young Tom Swift stories about the pre-teen Tom… plus a couple cookbooks.

Pretty much all of Tom Hudson's works are available on Amazon.com in paper and Kindle editions, many of them on BarnesAndNoblel.com as NOOK-style ebooks (but B&N changed too many things making it VERY HARD to post new or edited works, so I do not post ther any more!), and on the publisher LULU in paper and even some hardbound volumes.

Tom writes under several pen names: Victor Appleton II, T. Edward Fox, & Clarence Young IV and was proud to be a listed member of OREGON AUTHORS except in early 2017 that site was taken over and all author information erased. Sigh. Some came back in 2018 but it isn't the same. Another sigh!

In late 2016, he discovered a 32 "book" series called the Motor Matt Stories. Although horribly racist as were many things in 1909, they are a bit of fun and he opted to keep the historical wording. This was published weekly, all written by the same author, and each story was about 30,000 words long. After the main series was cancelled at #32, two futher adventures were published under a different series title. The entire set of 34 may be read on-line from within this site as Mr. Hudson has taken all the raw text files and illustrations and assembled/formatted them for easy reading HERE.

Finally, for now, he is in the process of recovering all of the The Three Investigators novels (the 43 published in the original series and 11 in the follow on series) and has completed the unpublished 44th story in series.CLICK HERE to see what that is all about.

NEW FOR 2018: On a dare, Tom wrote, and published publish (June 2018), a Romance Novel titled The Love of Skunk. See right over there ——>… and down a few lines…
