Since airfares were down, and Patty had an itch to go somewhere, she hopped a
"redeye" from San Francisco to JFK Thursday night, and arrived in New York
on Halloween. The subway trip was easy since a great
transit
website had "mapped" a route from the Howard Beach station to Evelyn's
nearest subway stop.
Patty's travel lesson: unless you like the cattle-car
approach to flying, don't take the redeye from SFO to JFK. The American Airlines
DC-10 was extremely crowded with no leg room for anyone but First Class passengers
(all eight of them).

Yarn Shopping in Queens Smiley's Yarns in Queens has a very large stock of yarns at excellent prices. Though much of the yarn is acrylic, there are some natural fibers and blends, like the wool/nylon/acrylic blend that Patty took home. For now it goes into her stash. One day it may have another life as a vest or sweater. Check out the PattyMade pages to see. |
