Bill and Patty We can't quite remember when it started, but it's probably been over twenty years since that first discussion about pineapple upside down (cake. Bill Brown said it had been a comfort food growing up, and Patty brought one in for his birthday and a tradition began. It continued even after Patty left Apple and just because we moved to Oregon, that was no reason to stop. This is the third year that a cake has traveled from Portland to San Jose.
